From 1951 to today: over seven decades of history

Founded as a School of Commerce, the centre has undergone deep transformations and became a CIFP in 2016. A journey that began with 68 students in 1951 and is today a vocational training landmark in the city.

CIFP Ciudad Jardin LHII in Vitoria-Gasteiz was founded as the "School of Commerce" by decree on 10/11/50, published in the official gazette on 23/11/50, and began its activity with commerce studies in the Florida School Group.

The School of Commerce project emerged from the need to train qualified administrative professionals to meet the demands of newly established companies in the city.

On 08/10/51, 25 female students and 43 male students sat the entrance exam. The official opening took place on 10/12/51.

Historical milestones

1971On 30/10/69, the foundation stone was laid at the new site on Calle Alava, in the Ciudad Jardin area of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The school was officially inaugurated in the 1971/1972 academic year, on 07/12/71.

1975By decree of 20/03/75, the School of Commerce became the "National Vocational Training Centre".
1980That year it adopted the name "Vocational Training Institute".
1993By Order of 19/07/93, its official name changed to "Ciudad Jardin Vocational Training Institute".
1997That year it became an "I.E.S." (Secondary Education Institute), in implementation of Decree 163/1997 of 4 July.
1999In 1999 it became an "I.T.S." (Singular Technical Institute) and also began implementing a quality management system (ISO and EFQM).
2016In 2016 it became a "CIFP" (Integrated Vocational Training Centre).
